Breaking Bread :)

Cheesy bread

I love bread, all sort of breads, ciabatta, baguette, panini, the ones flavoured with tomatoes, onions or sesame seeds but my favourite is the one with pieces of yummy cheese on it. Yesterday, me and my husband tried to bake one and we were pretty happy with the results. It is one of those things one does during holidays to do something different, exiting and involve your family members.

Ingredients for 2 persons:

500 gr of strong white bread flour

1 1/2 teaspoon of Salt

1 teaspoon of sugar

5 teaspoons of vegetable oil

2 teaspoon of dried yeast

300 gr of cheddar cheese

300 ml warm water (1 part boiling,2 part cold)

Add flour and salt into a large bowl, stir in the sugar and the yeast, then add 2 teaspoons of oil. Add enough water and mix to form a soft dough. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for up to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Shape the dough on a transparent bowl (so that the light enters easily) cover with a cling film and put it in the oven  and leave the light open (or inside the microwave oven), until doubled in size for 1 hour and 30 min. (Please  make sure not to turn the oven off  at this stage :))

20140421_135108_websiteAfter 1 hour and a half take the dough out  put it on a surface add the  chopped cheese.

“Meanwhile preheat the oven  at 180 C/350F/gas mark 4”.

Knead it again put some oil on the tray and place the dough again covering with a cling film and leave to rise another 30 minutes, after that, take the cling film out and put the tray in the oven to bake for about 40 minutes. After 40 minutes take the bread out and place it on a kitchen grid.

Enjoy! 🙂

  6. What is better than freshly baked bread? I could not eat those imposters they sell in the supermarkets since I started making my own fresh bread.

  7. If I lived on my own and not with someone who mocks my every moment I would make my bread this way. Mix your dough as normal. You can use a bread mix of a full recipe. After the first rise punch down, break into seven equal parts and put in a a spring bottom cake tin. That is a round tin with a bottom that comes out. Place these small rolls equally around the tin with one in the middle. Drizzle oil over the rolls and throw herbs, garlic and parmesan cheese on top. Let it rise and bake. Voila, a pull apart loaf that is great with soup.
    Lots of love
